We choose large, well-separated lettering and high-resolution museum photographs. The full page opens first. Starting passage centers a short place to begin; every visible main-text word remains available in the full-page view. Photographs retain their original color and detail.

What makes a reading harder?

Our suggested order weighs vocabulary, grammar, and the work of reading the handwriting. It is an editorial guide, not a standardized proficiency score. The notes for each reading explain the choice.

Images we can reuse

The six museum images are marked public domain and released under CC0. Each entry links to its object record and the institution’s reuse policy. The original user-supplied example is separate; its rights have not been verified.

What the word guides cover

Word guides cover the main text across each whole leaf, including headings, repeated words, and abbreviated chant cues. Latin is expanded and normalized in popups; split words share a definition. Words continued from another leaf are identified. Music notation and reversed text showing through the parchment are not words to translate. A faint later marginal note on the Royal Psalter is marked as uncertain. Editorial word readings and glosses should receive a scholarly review before a formal learning release.
